30 mins drive outside the city is the little town of Til Marov. It is home to the Institutions of the surrounding 35 villages. There is a problem solving committee, a municipality, one of the Internal Security movements and the Womens offices.
We went to talk with Til Marov municipality. Municipalities at that time were responsible for very basic works like roads, shared village water pumps and general electricity supply. Although the general electricity, supplied by a Hydro-electric dam, completely failed in 2023 due to the damning of the river in the neighboring Nation State. The village now runs its electricity supply off community purchased generators.
We wandered in to the building, un-announced as always, and, also as always, were welcomed with tea, food and much excitement. One of the municipality Responsibles, an older gentleman, was there and answered some of our questions about their work. He explained that they had only $10,000 for the years work and had to repair over 200km of road connecting the areas 35 villages.
A team from The City was there to discuss the building of a solar field to supply the village with electricity and the municipality was extremely excited about this. Everyone had come in with tea, food and excitement and only after about an hour did we realize that no one had actually understood what a solar field was. This is a common cultural characteristic we found, that people are very excited and accepting of all ideas without need to look for problems. The Responsible explained that the land around the village was all privately owned by local farmers, but however, he was sure a solution could be found.
