In mid-2024, we were welcomed to report on one of the School for Internationals. The day we arrived, Siya, a local philosopher, was giving a theatrical presentation about the local non-interventionist history of socio-economic problem easing. The translators could barely keep up with him as he danced around the room with big fiery eyes waving his hands and describing the awe inspiring delicate social-emotional intelligence of the solutions.
He explained that there is an embargo on the society making it difficult to import and export goods. In 2013 smugglers had been bringing substantial quantities of goods across all the borders and were making substantial amounts of money. Siya explained that they were beginning to develop in to a powerful, rich ruling class. Normally The Network does not intervene in society as it sees its role as the encouragement of concepts such as friendship and freedom. And certainly it tries not to use law or force to control. Indeed when one of the Philosophical groups gave a talk in our community, the first thing they told the local people was that:
“The Network is not here to solve your problems”.

The Network began talking with the people and carefully and emotionally intelligently laying the ground work for the acceptance of a new chain of supermarkets full of basic goods that The Network would bring in themselves. Siya explained that the people responded very well to this and in 2007 the new low-cost supermarket chains were launched in every city. This very successfully under-cut the smugglers hold on the economy and their power waned.
Siya was at pains to stress that this is an exception to the approach of The Network. In order to illustrate what the network does not usually do. Since then there have been many many issues that the society has needed to pay attention to. Varying collaborations of peoples organisations and The Network have sort to solve them.
