Control

Instead of trying to predict and control, Teal organizations try as much as possible to Sense and Respond. In the end, paradoxically, people often feel safer when they give up the illusion of control and learn to work with reality as it unfolds. Dynamic steering means constant adjustment in light of real feedback, which makes for a more organic and emergent path. She holds her purpose in mind, stays present in the moment, and finds the most natural way forward as she goes.

Strategy
Strategic thinking can come from anywhere, organically, as people in these organizations “listen” for the organization’s purpose. Similar in many ways to Quaker decision making. This collective intelligence is encouraged by sharing company data and information.
Teal rejects the notion that a only small group of people at the top could master all the complex information necessary to make sound strategic choices. These previous models rested on the assumption that we can predict the future, but life is complex and events and circumstances change so fast, that setting a target is mostly guesswork. Teal organizations understand themselves as a living organism with its own purpose and intent, within a living system that is the environment around it.
